Description | Introduction to Speech Level Singing philosophy and technique with goals related to commercial voice. Emphasizes sight singing and harmony singing applicable to commercial background singing. | ||||||||||

Learning Outcomes |
1. Students will demonstrate comprehension of the basics of vocal technique reading material. Identifies all main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary in reading material; demonstrates a full understanding of the reading (PSLO 1) 2. Students will acquire a basic understanding of vocal health and hygiene applicable to many different styles of singing. (PSLO 2) 3. Students will acquire communicative and expressive skills applicable to their own voices. (PSLO 2,4,5) 4. Students will develop a professional, disciplined approach to vocal performance skills (PSLO 2,4,5) 5. Students will acquire basic harmony singing applicable to commercial background singing. (PSLO 1, 2, 4,5) |

Week 2: Listening actively, warming up the voice 1 Week 3: Listening actively, warm-ups 2 Week 4: Repertoire assignments, best practices in artistic performance Week 5: Best practices in the performance music industry. Practice music deeply Week 6: Classification of the voice Week 7: Classification of the voice Week 8: Classification of the voice Week 9: Private class performance presentation 1, feedback and reflection Week 10: Rehearsal Week 11: Rehearsal Week 12: Rehearsal Week 13: Private class performance presentation 2, feedback and reflection. Major Assignments Schedule |
The midterm exam may be a combination of written, oral presentation, and/or performance. The Final exam will be a performance of the warm-ups, vocalizations, and songs assigned by the teacher. At least one song should be performed memorized. |
